One of the most famous espadrilles label outside of Spain is Castañer, but there are several other brands the Spanish are wearing. And of course, we want to know which espadrilles brands are popular in Spain, right?

If there is one constant in our lives, it is that as soon as summer approaches, the espadrilles are back. Year in, year out,  no matter what happens, the typical Mediterranean wedge shoes are the summer footwear of stylish women par excellence.

Whether with high heels, low heels or flats, the espadrilles are a must for the Duchess of Cambridge and her sister Pippa Middleton. Alexa Chung, Meghan Markle and Margot Robbie are big fans of espadrilles. Before them, Claudia Schiffer, Brigitte Bardot, Princess Grace of Monaco and Audrey Hepburn, to name a few.

Spanish natural fibre shoes are the most versatile and democratic shoes ever. From kings and queens, Hollywood stars and celebrities, as well as farmers, all wear them.

Act Series

Born in Mallorca in 2013, the brand is now based in Berlin and produces stylish espadrilles with high-quality materials like 100% natural leather and suede. You can find the beautiful Mediterranean shoes in Vienna and several German cities or buy them online.

Micuir

Mucuir has been innovating with modern designs, using different materials such as snakeskin and leather recycled from the agri-food industry. All shoes are handmade locally, in Spain. After working in the fashion industry for several years, Elena Peña launched the label in 2017, in Madrid, where she was born and raised.

Naguisa

If you’d like more modern models, this brand from Catalonia is the one for you. Launched by the architect Pablo Izquierdo Lopez and the product designer Claudia Perez Polo, Naguisa is located in Barcelona, but you can buy the Mediterranean shoes online.

Vidorreta

Handmade in Spain, the espadrilles and sandals with jute platform are the signature shoes of this label, but the traditional wedge and flat espadrilles are also very popular. They offer free-shipping in 24-48 hours to all of Europe.

Hernanz

Casa Hernanz has made the perfect espadrille since 1845. The shop located in Madrid usually has people waiting in line outside. Queen Sofia, the Spanish president Pedro Sanches and Javier Bardem are some of their famous clients. The handmade flat espadrilles are the house’s biggest hit; they sell around 500 pairs a day. The shoes that the queen of Spain and celebrities wear are made of cotton and cost 7,50 euros!

You will be able to shop Hernanz espadrilles online from September on, but until then, be prepared to wait outside the shop with other footwear aficionados, and who knows, maybe you meet one or two famous actors waiting with you.
