The monochrome makeup you must start wearing now

AgelessBeautyMarch 01, 2019

The monochrome makeup is a look you will love to wear this spring and summer. This makeup consists of eyes, cheeks and lips all in the same pink-ish peach, which will make you look fresh and glowing, like the Irish actress Saoirse Ronan or the fabulous Cate Blanchett.

Forget the heavy foundations and the contour carved cheekbones à la Kardashians; the porno-chic era is dead. Now the trend is tonal makeup with cheeks softly flushed, bright shimmering eyes and coral lips. This monochrome makeup is Saoirse’s signature makeup look. The natural look is perfect with your office outfit or a night out.

What you want is a bare-faced look with flawless skin, but keep in mind that even Saoirse needs the help of makeup to achieve her natural-fresh-as-a-rose look. Here is how to get  right the monochrome makeup look:

Porcelain skin

Ronan uses Chanel Flawless Foundation over the face and down the neck. Then, she applies a natural finish pressed powder and finishes the look with a light contouring. Otherwise, she may wear some highlighter like to make the cheekbones pop and give her a healthy glow.

Shimmering Eyes

Use around the eyes a regeneration cream, which you can blend with rose water. It helps to reduce dark circles under the eyes and puffiness.

Eyeliner, mascara and eyebrow pencil

Although you’d think Saoirse’s look is so natural she doesn’t wear any of the above, well, she does. And the secret to her wonderfully fresh look is the almost invisible makeup she wears. You will need brown eyeliner, mascara and brow pencil instead of the usual black. Line your upper lash line with the eyeliner, extending it a bit and blending the edges to make your eyes look bigger. Define the eyebrows with a transparent gel or a light tone pencil such as Chanel Blond Tendre, and use a brush to blend the colour. Remember to keep it natural-looking.

For the lips

The colours are usually very natural, matching the rest of the makeup; wear peach or coral lipstick or lipgloss. If your lipstick feels too dry, you can make like Saoirse and wear a lip balm under it to keep your lips moist.
