The Best Burgers in Vienna

A burger is one of the most popular foods in the world. No matter where you are, you´ll for sure always get a burger somewhere. But we are not talking McDonald´s or Burger King here, we mean really good burgers. The ones, where you´ll want to lick all of your ten fingers and even consider having a second one right after. Vienna is full of those places that claim to sell “the best burger in town”, but with everyone saying that, how do you know which one it really is? We headed out and tried to solve this mystery and came up with our favourite burger restaurants in Vienna.

Rinderwahn has two locations in Vienna, one in the first district and one at the Naschmarkt (really nice in summer). Rinderwahn offers a broad selection of beef burgers and even a pulled pork and two veggie burgers. Their sweet potato fries are to die for, by the way, so make sure to pass by any time soon!

The Weinschenke has three locations here in Vienna. One in Franzensgasse, one at the Karmelitermarkt and one at Siebensternplatz. This restaurant is one of our favourites when it comes to burgers. They have several beef burgers with really funny names (“Der wilde Kerl” or “Billy the Kid”) and also vegetarian/vegan options on their menu and choosing is harder than it seems. Also, their fries (more like soft chips) and sauces are mouthwatering.

Said the butcher to the cow is located at the Opernring in the first district and the interior of this restaurant is probably not for everyone (quite slaughterhouse-ish, but in the end, you are here to have a burger, so yeah…). The burgers are for everyone though since they range from the classic hamburger to a chicken teriyaki burger to a black bean burger. Yum!

Every proper burger article also needs a good and fast takeaway place, right? Burger de Ville in front of the 25 hours hotel is our recommendation here. Vending from an American Airstream, you can get burgers within minutes and can enjoy them right at the beautiful Weghuberpark. Oh, and please try the Italian fries!

While most of the other burger restaurants also offer vegetarian or even vegan versions of their burgers, Swing Kitchen is for sure the dream for all our plant based friends out there. The whole menu is vegan and their fries apparently the best in town (not sure about that but go find out yourself).
