Burgers are one of the most popular foods in the world. And, although the Viennese kitchen is mostly known for its Wiener Schnitzel and Apfelstrudel, Vienna also offers some of the best burgers you’ll ever have. The ones you want to lick all of your ten fingers and even consider having a second one right after. The only problem is that Vienna is full of places that claim to sell “the best burgers in town”. We headed out and tried all to find out where the best burger restaurants in Vienna, including the best vegetarian ones. It was a tough job, but someone had to do it.

1. Rinderwahn

Rinderwahn has two locations in Vienna with the best burgers, one in the first district and one at the Naschmarkt, which is really nice in summer. The restaurant offers a broad selection of beef burgers and even a pulled pork and veggie burgers, which are my personal favourites, even though I am not a vegetarian! Their sweet potato fries are to die for, by the way, so make sure to pass by any time soon!

2. Weinschenke

Enjoy the best burgers from Weinschenke in three different locations here in Vienna. One in Franzensgasse, one at the Karmelitermarkt and one at Siebensternplatz. This restaurant is one of our favourites when it comes to burgers. They have several beef burgers with amusing names like “Der Wilde Kerl” and “Billy, the Kid”. Additionally, they also have vegetarian/vegan options on their menu, and choosing is harder than it seems. Finally, their fries (more like soft chips) and sauces are mouthwatering.

3. Said The Butcher To The Cow

Said The Butcher To The Cow is located on the Opernring, in Vienna’s first district. Although some people may object to the restaurant’s interior, quite slaughterhouse-ish, all agree that the burgers are among the best ones in Vienna. And they cater for everyone’s taste, from the classic hamburger to a chicken teriyaki or black bean burger.

4. Burger de Ville

Every proper burger article also needs a good and fast takeaway place, right? Burger de Ville in front of the 25 hours hotel is our recommendation here. Vending in Vienna from an American Airstream, you can get the best burgers within minutes and enjoy them right there, in the beautiful Weghuberpark. Oh, and please try the Italian fries!

5. Swing Kitchen

While most of the other burger restaurants also offer vegetarian or even vegan versions of their burgers, Swing Kitchen is for sure the dream for all our plant-based friends out there. The whole menu is vegan, and their fries are said to be the best in town (not sure about that, but go find out yourself).

6. Five Guys

Five Guys is the newest burger place in Vienna and one of the best ones too. The first restaurant opened its doors in Washington, DC, in 1986, serving only hand-formed burgers cooked to perfection on a grill along with fresh-cut fries cooked in pure peanut oil. The restaurant is famous for its juicy burgers with all the toppings you could stuff between fresh-baked buns. Today, you can enjoy Five Guys burgers all around the world, including in Vienna.
