Last night, the Fashion Awards 2017 took place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, for which the Crème de la Crème of the international fashion industry traveled to the UK. The prize is an honor for outstanding achievements, works, and accomplishments in the business. The ceremony was partly very emotional as the recently deceased colleagues have been remembered and paid homage to. Maria Grazia Chiuri acknowledged former Vogue Italy editor Franca Sozzani, while Naomi Campbell, together with an army of models, paid tribute to Azzedine Alaïa.
Chiuri, who became Dior’s first female chef designer in the history of the Maison after Raf Simmons left last year, has been awarded the Swarovski Award For Positive Change. Swarovski is giving away the prize for outstanding social, political or environmental engagement in the fashion industry. Chiuri has been honored for her contribution to empowering female protagonists in business.
Other winners of the night were Adwoa Aboah (Model of the Year), Christopher Bailey (Outstanding Contribution to British Fashion Award), the brand Off-White (Urban Luxe Brand), Stella McCartney (Special Recognition Award For Innovation), Donatella Versace (Style Icon) and Raf Simons (Designer of the Year); among many other categories.
On the red carpet, writer Derek Blasberg and Miss Piggy (in a glamorous outfit by Saint Laurent with 10.000 Swarovski crystals) welcomed the guests. See them in our gallery!
