Jewellery will be all about ”the bigger the better” in 2018! You can jump for joy and unleash your 80’s and 90’s inner pop-diva with no fear of over-doing it. Statement earrings
They are a MUST and definitely the hottest jewellery trend of 2018. You can easily glam up any outfit this year. All you will need is really extremely loud earrings that can be in asymmetric and playful shapes, big volumes, fun little sculptures of all types of animals, from romantic butterflies to wild creatures or exotic palm trees, colorful fruits and vegetables such as Dolce & Gabbana’s carrots, Prada’s bananas and Balenciaga’s grapes.
The 2018 bold earrings can also be shoulder long - or better, even longer than that - as seen in Zadig & Voltaire and Saint Laurent SS18 shows.
Button earrings are also back! Big hoops are still here, but this year they must be asymmetrical too. And if you want to be the trendiest of them all, try mix’n matching your earrings or just wearing it on one ear only.
And since we’re in the 80’s mood, our adored big bejewelled and colourful brooches are back and on the runways of Céline, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu.
You can - and should - wear several brooches at once, on your scarves, jeans jackets, bags, suits, hats, you name it.
Another strong trend for 2018 is the romantic Victorian and Baroque style. Dolce & Gabbana and Alexander McQueen used in their shows vintage-inspired jewels ornate with pearls and bold crystals fit for a queen.
On the other hand, Stella McCartney, Yves Saint Laurent, and Isabel Marant chose for their SS18 runway shows a lot of transparent or white crystals and glass molded into bracelets, necklaces, and earrings.
And for those who still love the thin delicate chain and pendant necklaces we’ve been seeing everywhere for the past years, don’t worry, you can continue to wear them, as long as you layer them, combining several really thin chains and hanging from the shortest to the longest, little pendants like Giambattista Valli and Dior did wonderfully.
