The Hermès Carré is having its 80th birthday this year! It was introduced in 1937 and is since then produced and hand-printed in Lyon. Each year, 12 silk models with new motifs are added to the collection, which often refer to equestrianism.
Now, for the scarf’s birthday, Hermès came up with an idea to provide the aged piece a new update… In a pop-up laundry old carrés get the full treatment: washing, dying and drying. It’s a free service that Hermès is offering its customers for their old pieces.
Under the motto “Fall in love again with your Carré”, the French luxury goods provider tours around the world with Hermèsmatic, as they call the offer, stopping at several of their stores with the laundry shop.
Until November 18th, the Hermès Shop in Vienna is turned into a service department to put new life to presumed dead scarves. If you have an old one, that you would love to give a general overhaul to and fall in love with it again, stop by and bring it along. If you can’t call yourself the lucky owner of one of those precious pieces, just have a look at the process and maybe fall newly in love with the carré. Isn’t the promotion film pretty?
