Good news for all cat and dog lovers out there:
Louis Vuitton has teamed up with British stylist, editor and illustrator Grace Coddington to present the cutest capsule collection ever of leather handbags in the form of cats and dogs called “Cats on Leather”. Coddington also mixed Louis Vuitton’s iconic monogram with drawings of Pumpkin and Blanket, her adored Persian cats, and Léon, Nicolas Gherquière’s dog. “Catogram” is the new pattern that she used on bags such as the City Steamer, the Neverfull or the Speedy, and on shoes, hats, pyjamas, a dressing gown and pullover.
Of course, we must think of Choupette, Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat, which cute face was splattered last year on sneakers, bags, gloves, necklaces, you name it. Choupette is an Instagram celebrity, as are Coddington's cats. The red-haired editor has shared on Instagram her sketches of cats and has even launched a book about her feline friends: The Catwalk Cats.
The Welsh Grace Coddington is a former model turned creative director of American Vogue and now British Vogue contributor. In 1988 she began her 30-year long career at American Vogue. Anna Wintour says that the magazine wouldn’t be what it is today if it weren’t for Coddington. Her fashion photo shoots are notoriously complex and dramatic, and her images tell stories, often of romance and fairytales. Wintour explains that “in the years we’ve worked together, I’ve learned that Grace has the best eye in the business and can sense a trend even before the designers have an inkling of what’s going on”.
Pairing Coddington’s expert eye and the love most people have for the adorable furry companions, we are sure the fun and cute handbags will be a bit hit this season. Louis Vuitton x Grace Coddington capsule collection will be available at the LV stores as from the 2nd November.
