Just a couple of days ago, under the glass ceiling of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where the first Prada store still resides since 1913, Prada resort 2018 has seen the light of day.
In contrast with the industrial-looking setting of the Osservatorio, the pieces of the collection came down the runway in pinks and greys and blacks which underlined the models' elegant femininity. The collection was, however, studded with contrasts. Light, transparent tulle skirts were worn with sporty bombers, and school girl knee-high socks complemented headpieces made of wild feathers. In other words, Wes Anderson gone pastel. The reason for this contrast play can be found in the words that Miuccia Prada shared with The New York Times:
“I wanted to work on contemporary, which means somehow sport, but to bring it into a kind of metamorphosis, into elegance. How to make sport elegant and vice versa.”
