Spring is here, the birds are singing and the sun is shining! Time to get your sunglasses out of their cases.
In 2018 the sunglasses come in so many different shapes and sizes, you have big goggle-looking sunglasses, retro cat-eyes, small rectangular frames à la" Matrix", "Top Gun" Aviators and small and big round frames, in one or several colours, with tinted and mirrored lenses or multi-coloured frames, The options are endless really, so we made a selection of cool shades for you because sunglasses can make or break your summer look!
Cat eye sunglasses like the ones worn by Marilyn Monroe were very trendy in the 60's and are now again. Their elongated shape suits everyone and is very flattering. Erdem cat-eye sunglasses are perfect for a chic look, Asos’s cat eye glasses are bright red, Louis Vuitton had its model wearing several different cat eye sunglasses on the catwalk. Maison Margiela’s interpretations of the cat eye are big and in Yves Klein blue or black and white.
Remember Top Gun Aviators sunglasses? They used to be extremely cool in the 80's and 90's and now, well, they are cool again but the new versions are with mirrored lenses or yellow ones, or oversized like Chanel’s. Swarovski's version of the Aviator comes with purple lenses.
Ray-Ban updated Aviators come with yellow lenses, Céline and Alexander MacQueen's sunglasses come with pink lenses, Gucci’s green and red round frames are with green lenses and Christian Dior’s are yellow or blue. Versace chose clear blue for its sunglasses.
Dolce & Gabbana embellished its sunglasses with crystals or with petals, looking like huge psychedelic flowers, Marni and Marco de Vicenzo’s frames are bi or tri-coloured and Versace’s shades come with the bold patterns the brand so much loves.
Chanel has always loved oversized sunglasses, Lanvin, Christian Dior, Maison Margiela, Giorgio Armani, Fendi, among others, presented on their catwalks oversized sunglasses in all shapes, round, square, cat eye or Aviators. Bottega Veneta, Roberto Cavalli and Emilio Pucci’s shades are round and huge while Armani preferred square oversized ones.
Skinny micro sunglasses are a trend we already spoke about here, and they’re still hot this spring and summer. Futurist looking, these skinny sunglasses have a fun retro feeling, kind of what we used to think the future year 2000 would look like. Miu Miu and Prada presented several models of ultra skinny sunglasses that are so stylish but not really practical to protect you from the sun.
