Unveiling the beauty of the French capital
Paris Couture Week is marked bright yellow (or ultraviolet if it was up to Pantone) in our calendars. There are always some shows that we´ve been waiting for as well as several unexpected surprises.
Although the fashion industry sometimes seems to be merely about making profit rather than creative concepts, Haute Couture is still dedicated to craftmanship, great ideas and the brilliant minds behind them and should for this very reason be celebrated properly. And if one label knows how to do this, it is Chanel for sure.
This year´s venue for the Show was inspired by the scenic area around the Seine with its many little book and magazine stalls and the amazing view of the Institut de France. Karl Lagerfeld basically managed to put up a Parisian sidewalk at the Grand Palais and turned it into a catwalk. The collection he presented there is a tribute to the city that he has been living in for many decades now, the one he has devoted himself to. The colours and fabrics of the pieces reflect Paris´ architecture, the flair and the hidden beauty that can´t be seen by everyone. Slits and zips on skirts and jackets slightly reveal embroideries, silky materials and detailed linings that lie underneath just like the city reveals its charm when you dare to take a closer look.
So, to get into an all Parisian mood and see some of the best looks of the show.
