From 90´s Influencer to Fashion Designer
Carin Rodebjer was born in Sweden and came to New York in 1993 to study at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She basically started out as what we nowadays know as an influencer. Back in the days she wore clothes she designed and made herself out on the streets and soon got a lot of attention. A moment after she started selling her designs to friends and local shops in NYC and Stockholm.
Going from being a streetstyle influencer to an international fashion designer seems to be a legit carrier path these days, but two decades ago this was a brave step. One that has obviously lead to success considering the fact that fashion brand Rodebjer is growing ever since its launch in 1999.
The label is all about simplicity and high quality clothes that can be worn in any situation a modern woman might find herself. Laid back suits, slack blouses and sophisticated kaftans and kimonos are the key pieces that turn each collection into a timeless and diverse composition.
The Spring/Summer 2019 collection which was shown at Copenhagen fashion week features woven textures, floral printed silk dresses and workwear elements and represents Rodebjer´s roots and the concept of "Swedish Sin” (based on a speech that US president Eisenhower once held and in which he used Sweden as an example of sin). The pieces are unique, yet wearable and it is therefore no wonder that Carin Rodebjer has already won several awards for her designs and by this time sells them in more than 20 countries.
