The much-awaited fundraiser event of the summer
Every year, the Serpentine Summer Party gathers high profile members of the worlds of design, fashion, politics, architecture, art, film and music in the magnificent Kensington Gardens, in London.
This year the party was hosted by Chanel and by Adwoa Aboah, the British fashion model who was named “Woman of the Year” by British GQ in 2017 and is currently Vogue Contributing Editor.
According to the organisers of the much-awaited fundraiser event of the summer; “Hosted by Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld and set in the grassed grounds of the Serpentine Art Gallery in London’s Kensington Gardens, this spectacular annual celeb-fest has attracted a line-up of art lovers, hotel magnates and aristocrats."
Among the numerous guests were Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice of York, Lady Kitty Spencer, Lady Amelia Windsor, Princess Maria -Olympia of Greece, Sabine Getty, Alexa Chung, Suki Waterhouse, Natalie Dormer, Laura Bailey, Jenna Coleman and several Chanel Ambassadors.
The Serpentine Pavilion, which is a temporary structure specially created for the yearly event by some of the world’s most renowned architects, was designed this year, by Mexican Frida Escobedo, the youngest architect to be selected and the second solo woman since Zaha Hadid, who created the first pavilion in the year 2000.
The pavilion will be the stage for Park Nights, the Serpentine’s programme of experimental and interdisciplinary events that will happen every Friday night until the 21st September and will offer different ways of experiencing Escobedo’s creation through performances, films, music, theatre, dance and philosophy.
