Read before buying your next puffer coat

Moncler Genius, “one house, different voices” is a is a project that has been changing the face of the Italian label, known for its down jackets and sportswear. Since last year, Moncler has presented each month a new collaboration with different designers that have revisited the brand’s signature jackets.

For A/W ’19, Pierpaolo Piccioli, the Creative Director of Maison Valentino, teamed up with the Ethiopian model Liya Kebede, who is also the founder of Lemlem, a fashion label that promotes African artisans and culture.

Piccioli combined his couture vision with the beautiful African patterns of Kebede’s label to create the most amazing hybrids between couture gowns and puffer coats. The dreamy gowns come with huge matelassé shawls wrapped around the models' shoulders and heads.

The designer explained that he was after “ balance of dreaminess, extravagance and soulfulness”, and that “connecting diversities is my idea of inclusive creativity”.
