Who's the best dressed First Lady?
French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte were on an official visit in Washington D.C to attend to the first state dinner of the Trump presidency.
The French couple was welcome by President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump at the State Arrival Ceremony at the White House, followed by a visit to the National Gallery of Art by the two First Ladies, both wearing white outfits, Macron in her signature-style mini dress and jacket while Melania opted for a modern asymmetrical Michael Kors belted jacket and chic knee-long pencil skirt, and she completed her look with a wide-brimmed white hat by French designer Hervé Pierre in a nice gesture towards her guest.
At night they met again for a State Dinner at the White House when Melania Trump wore a glittering Haute Couture Dior silver gown and Brigitte chose a cream and gold Louis Vuitton gown. By wearing on both occasions French couture, the American First Lady paid homage to her French guests.
This was not the first time the two First Ladies met. The Trumps went on an official visit to France in 2017 for the Bastille Day, when we saw Melania in a wonderful red Jacket and A-line skirt below the knee from Dior, paying homage to her hosts while Macron wore a white Louis Vuitton mini-dress.
Later on, in a dinner at the Eiffel Tower, Macron came in another Louis Vuitton mini-dress and Melania Trump was absolutely perfect, wearing the national colours of France and the United States, in a white, blue and red dress buy French Hervé Pierre.
Whether you like her husband or not, there’s no denying that Melania Trump rises to the occasion, always extremely elegant, showing not only her impeccable style but also her diplomatic skills as she pays homage to her hosts or guests by wearing designers from their countries. Brigitte Macron, on the other hand, apparently has one and only style and brand, always wearing these Louis Vuitton mini-dresses that aren’t really appropriate for the First Lady in official events, and I’m sorry, I don’t care how thin your legs are or how young your husband is, after a certain age, mini-skirts are simply a No-Go for any elegant woman. Having said that, Melania's public displays of lack of affection towards her husband and the very public awkward moments between the couple taint her polished external appearance.
Now back to the Macrons, I don’t want to pick on the French president but I cannot help wondering… What was that hand-kissing? Did Macron learn how to do it with Pepe Le Pew?
