Although Pantone’s colour for 2019 is Coral Red, from what we’ve been seeing on Instagram, Lavender is the definitive hue choice for spring. We saw quite a lot of Lavender at the Fashion Week shows too; Valentino, Tom Ford, Tory Burch, Molly Goggard, Bagdley Mischka, Marc Jacobs, Zimmermann, Kate Spade and Emilia Wickstead are some of the designers who presented beautiful looks with the pastel colour.
Lavender is a feminine colour that looks wonderful when paired with Eclipse, a greyish deep blue like the midnight sky. But you can also wear the versatile lavender with black, like Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, with navy, mint green, pale yellow, orange, Brown Granite or with beige, this season’s neutral.
And of course, the pale lilac goes perfectly well with white. As a matter of fact, a crisp white cotton shirt is fabulous with any colour, pair it with a lavender wrap skirt and slingback pumps for an ultra chic outfit that can take your from the office to a night out. Dress your jeans up with an elegant lavender jacket or go for a sleek lavender-on-lavender look.
Coco Chanel stated that “the best colour in the world is the one that looks good on you”, and Lavender is that colour; it looks good on blondes, on black, brown and red-haired women, it is so flattering that women of all complexions and ages can wear lavender and look fabulous. What used to be considered a granny colour has become the coolest tone in the wardrobe of every fashion savvy woman and a must-have for spring.
