Copenhagen Fashion Week will be the only fashion week in Scandinavian this year, so this is the place to see what all the Danish designers have in store for us for next season.
The fashion week will go from 6 to 9 August, and the stylish Scandinavian girls and influencers are so cool that what happens in the streets during fashion week is as inspiring as what happens on the catwalks. While we wait eagerly for one of the most refreshing and innovative fashion weeks in the world, you can have a little taste of what to expect checking the selection of our favourite Scandinavian designers:
The creative directors of Baum and Pferdgarten, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave, have created since 1999, timeless collections with beautiful prints and bold colours. In their own words; “We want to create designs for women who want to have fun with their personal expression. Our collections can be worn in many different ways by many different women. We create clothes that help women tell their own story.”
We love Blanche! The chic and minimalist designs are seasonless, meaning that you can wear the garments over and over again. This young Danish label produces most of their collections in Copenhagen, using organic, recycled and surplus fabrics, and natural materials such as pure leather, cashmere and merino. Sustainability is a strong point for the designers, and although their creations are timeless, they are absolutely contemporary.
Ganni is one of the best know Danish brands thanks to Instagram influencers wearing the label, like Alexa Chung, Camille Charriere, Veronika Heilbrunner, and Pernille Teisbaek. Launched by the couple Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup in 2009, Ganni is a sustainable brand with accessible prices and unique design that stands out. The cool clothes with bold colours and prints show the world another side of the clean-line Scandinavian fashion.
Bahnsen founded her eponymous label in 2015 in Copenhagen, after having in London and worked with couture houses in Paris. She mixes her experience in couture and the Scandinavian design culture, making fabulous clothes with architectural volumes and silhouettes in hand-designed fabrics. The ready-to-wear collections combine maximalism and minimalism, resulting in feminine and contemporary pieces that we love.
In 2018, Birger Christensen teamed up with Danish It-girls and influencers Jeanette Madsen and Thora Valdimars, to launch ROTATE, that specialises in dresses. The two stylists create mainly fun party dresses in bold colours and silhouettes at an affordable price point. It is the go-to label for stylish women who like to stand out whether at a party or in their everyday life.
Designer Stine Goya launched her namesake brand in 2006. She develops four collections a year, including clothes, shoes and accessories with her signature combination of colours and prints that is absolutely modern. You can’t get any cooler than that!
I bet you're now, like us, counting the days till Copenhagen Fashion Week!
