The German answer to low fashion.
Like the handmade knitwear label Maiami, we also believe slow fashion is the new luxury. The German brand Maiami makes beautiful hand-knitted pullovers, cardigans and accessories in the softest natural wool, cashmere, mohair and alpaca.
Maiami's founder, Maike Dietrich loves knitting. After more and more friends kept asking her to make them pullovers, she decided to turn her hobby into a business. In 2003, she opened the Berlin-based label Maiami, that creates pieces that are both traditional and modern.
The long-lasting and timeless garments are hand-knitted in Germany, Italy and Bulgaria by knitters that Dietrich personally knows and with whom she has regular contact, ensuring right working conditions and fair pay for the team, and for the consumers; high-quality products carefully handmade.
The German brand takes sustainability and transparency seriously in the work process, and it shows in the hand-knitted cosy woollies that capture our current cultural Zeitgeist perfectly. Maiami’s slow fashion collections appeal to anyone who’s tired of mass-production and synthetic, and values instead, the idea of coming back to traditional handcraft and natural fabrics.
Maiami’s designs, the choice of patterns and colour combination mixed with the traditional art of knitting and high-quality yarns result in timeless collections that Dietrich shows regularly during Fashion Week in Berlin, New York, Paris and Tokyo. Many multi-label stores around the world sell the lovely sweaters and accessories that you can also buy in their e-shop.
