no need for trail & error

Women wear makeup, that’s a fact. Some more, some less, some even feel naked without it. Women were already wearing makeup in Ancient Egypt more than 12.000 years ago!

Wearing makeup is fun and it boosts our confidence, helping us be ready for the day to come because the ritual of putting on makeup is almost like the warriors painting their faces to get ready for the battle. Did you know that, according to an experiment, women who wear makeup are seen as healthier, more confident and as having greater earning potential than the ones not wearing it?

There are so many exciting new and high-quality beauty products being launched every day, it is impossible to try them all. So to help you avoid all that trial & error waste of money and time, here are our suggestions:

In spring and summer, you need something that’s not too heavy and cakey, but light foundations with a good and long-lasting coverage are kind of difficult to find.

Bobbi Brown Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation lasts up to 12 hours, so it’s perfect for the woman on-the-go, who wants to go out after work without having to worry about retouching her makeup. Plus, it has an SPF 15 too. Chanel’s Les Beiges Healthy Glow foundation is another very good option, it is long-lasting and blends perfectly into your skin, with SPF 25.

We all love a golden tan that makes you look healthy and well-rested, but because we can’t spend the year laying by the poolside, nothing like a good bronzer to give you that vacation glow.

For a little-sunkissed colour and radiance, try the creamy bronzer Soleil de Tan de Chanel Make-up Base. Guerlain Terracotta Moisturizing Bronzing Powder was launched in 1984 and is still as good as it gets! And Estée Lauder has just launched the Bronze Goddess Powder Bronze that can be worn all over your face for a shimmering glow.

You can add some radiance and highlight your face structure with highlighters in sticks, powder or cream. You will see gold highlighters everywhere this year. Try Rihanna’s “Trophy Wife” highlight and you’ll be glowing this summer! You can wear it not only on your cheeks but also on your eyelids as a shadow or over your lipstick. Laura Mercier Face Illuminator is an excellent option if you want a glowing skin without all the glittery shine.

If you have dry lips and have already tried all kinds of moisturizers, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream skin protectant is the thing for you. Traditional lipsticks are back in 2018, in all shades of red, in bright colours such as pink and in metallic colours as well. Rouge Dior liquid lipstick in vibrant metal shades is perfect for sparkling lips and if you like classic lipsticks, Kylie Cosmetics has launched its new Silver Series. If you prefer the creamy ones, Chanel Rouge Coco Lip Blush is a very practical lip gloss that can also be used as a blush for your cheeks as well.

For super-thick lashes à la Twiggy, apply a few coats of DiorShow Pump’N’Volume Mascara. Essence Extreme Mascara is a good option for achieving thick lashes when you're on a budget.

The use of black eyeliner is more dramatic in 2018. To create the graphic thick shapes and cat eyes we saw on the catwalks, you’ll need Marc Jacobs Magic Marc’er Precision Pen Waterproof liquid eyeliner or DiorShow Art Pen liquid eyeliner for an ultra-fine drawing. Blue eyeliners are also very on-trend this year, try Gosh coloured eyeliners for Pop cat eyes.

But my favourite new product is definitely the portable range of premium makeup Trinny London Stacks; tiny pots containing foundation, lipgloss, eyeshadow and all you can imagine, that can be stacked and easily carried in your bag without taking much space and they’re also the perfect size for travelling.
