Rihanna and Cate Blanchett love it!

When you see someone like Rihanna, Miranda Kerr or Solange Knowles wearing a brand, you know soon everyone is going to be talking about it.

Ellery is one of these brands. It is a luxury womenswear label that was launched in 2007 in Australia by Kym Ellery, who is renowned for her bold and voluminous silhouettes, cutout shapes and the use of innovative textiles with memory, that do not lose their shape.

Ellery offers ready-to-wear, shoes, eyewear and bold and fun statement jewellery. Most of it is produced in Australia, except for the textiles that are developed in Switzerland and Italy, the shoes, that are made I Italy and leather goods, in France.

Ellery at the Paris Fashion Week

Kym Ellery studied fashion design and production in Perth, Australia and then, took a summer course of Fashion Illustration at the acclaimed Central St Martins, in London. She went back to Australia and started to work as a market editor at the Australian magazine Rushh, where she stayed for four years and learned the foundations for setting her eponymous label, which she started as a part-time hobby. She also worked as a freelance stylist for a while. After a stylist photographed some Ellery tights for Vogue, the label began to become better known and is now a coveted brand that shows its collections twice a year at the Paris Fashion Week.

Ellery Fall 2018 Collection

Kym Ellery says that her inspiration comes from the art world, architecture, popular culture, films and social movements. She produces clothing for women of excellence, and the designer wants to encourage their personal expression. Ellery moved her business to Paris and has just shown her Fall Collection, that was a mix of Texan and Victorian styles with a pinch of the 70s.

By the way, Ellery’s signature is the 70s flare trousers, sculptural silhouettes and statement blouses with ruffles. For Fall, she also showed a fantastic and atemporal dress in English silk taffeta with big puffy sleeves. Her “Cool Aid” trousers will inevitably become a hit; they are very flattering; they have high-waist with an adjustable belt and a slouchy cut with front pleats, so they look incredibly comfortable but at the same time, sophisticated and chic, like most of Ellery’s creations.
