From Fall 19 catwalks to the streets – Blazer+Skirt

15. August 2019

Among the many trends that arose from A/W19 catwalks, the one I like the best is the chic combo Blazer + Skirt.

Die-hard fans of Phoebe Philo and her old Céline, rejoice! After a very bumpy start at Celine, Hedi Slimane presented in his latest collection, sleek blazer and skirt ensembles for next season. The Fall’19 collection took Celine back to its elegant roots, with the brand’s signature looks for classy French working women.

Carolina Herrera, Burberry and Fendi also chose to pair blazers with skirts for their fall/winter’19 runway shows. Burberry presented feminine looks in beige, perfect to go to the office, which you can wear with fun neon accessories for a splash of colour, which will be another big fall trend.

But make no mistake; the blazer-skirt combos that we saw on so many catwalks are not the power-suit style. Ditch the tight pencil skirts like the ones Melanie Griffith wore in “Working Girl” in the late ’80s. This autumn, you will pair your blazer with pleated A-line midi skirts.

By the way, take advantage that pleats and plaids will be everywhere next season to get some beautiful midi skirts. These feminine skirts are super flattering and fabulous to go to the office or out for lunch. The A-line skirts give you freedom of movement, so important for women who like to walk and to feel comfortable day and night. The midi skirts look modern with boots, sneakers and lace-up ankle boots, but you can also wear them with killer heels for a wow effect.

I love the practicability and versatility of this trend; it is the perfect office uniform for fall, and it’s so chic you can go out at night straight from work in this winning combination. Plus, I’m sure you already own a few nice blazers from past years, don’t you?  Now you can easily update them by pairing your old jackets with flowy pleated skirts, and look super contemporary!

And when looking for new staples for your fall wardrobe, do as fashion-savvy women do; choose interchangeable blazers and skirts, so that, with only a few pieces, you can put together several different looks.

Here are some beautiful ones, that you can mix & match. Don’t be afraid to explore and enjoy some daring colour combinations to brighten up this fall:
