Great news for all the fans who are still mourning the end of Downton Abbey after six successful seasons: the lives of the British aristocratic Crawley family will become a movie.
The period drama is already under production, and we will meet soon again almost every character of the award-winning TV series, and some newcomers too. We’re looking forward to seeing Dame Maggie Smith as the acid and irascible Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham, who delivered some of the wittiest and most hilarious one-liners ever, much to of our delight, such as the brilliant “I am a woman, I can be as contrary as I choose”.
Sadly, Lily James, who played Lady Rose, won’t be back at Highclere Castle as her character moved to New York in the series and according to the Mamma Mia star, “it would be far-fetched to bring her back”.
The long-awaited follow-up film will be released in the UK on the 13th of September. So while we wait anxiously for the Crawley family and the sharp-tongued Countess’ next adventures, written by the creator of the award-winning TV series, Julian Fellowes, you can have a little taste with the first official teaser trailer.
If you’re too impatient and think you can’t wait until mid-September for the film, here’s some wisdom from Violet Crawley for you, my dear: “You are a woman with a brain and reasonable ability. Stop whining and find something to do”.
We’ve already found something to do and are getting the Downton Abbey's look. Care to join us?
