Winter is coming! The hotter days are gone, and with them, your sun-kissed complexion. But luckily, rosy cheeks and sun-glow freshness are not bound by season anymore. You can achieve a luminous and even skin in the colder days by wearing a good powder makeup.
Our editors tested two different top products and here is what we found out:
This powder makeup is a long-wear foundation that minimizes the appearance of pores and shine, leaving your skin even and matte. It comes in 12 shades, from very light beige to dark brown, to suit every skin hue. The coverage of this compact powder is medium to high, depending on the amount you apply, and can also be used as a touch-up during the day. The compact foundation has SPF 20 and comes with a sponge applicator to blend the powder.
This powder is for a light make-up that gives you luminosity and a radiant complexion. You can use it even if you have sensitive skin and it comes with SPF 15 to protect you from damaging sun rays. You can choose between six shades of beige and use the darker hues if you want to extend your summer look for a bit longer. Use the crescent-shaped brush to apply the powder all over your face and also to model contours with the edges of the brush.
And the winner is…
Although the Dior Forever Extreme Control gives you a flawless complexion, we found it to be a bit heavier and not as natural-looking as Chanel’s powder. Dior’s sponge to apply the foundations becomes dirty, and you have to wash it quite often, which can be a bit time-consuming. On the other hand, Chanel’s brush makes the application more manageable as you can use a smaller amount of powder with it. Also, Chanel Les Beiges is slightly less expensive and comes with more product than Dior Forever Extreme Control, Chanel contains 12 grams of powder, Dior, only 9 grams. But, all in all, our editors found both powders equally good, the main difference being that Chanel Powder is more suitable for a younger skin because it feels and looks more translucent, lighter and fresher, and Dior powder makeup allows a better coverage of pores and imperfections of more mature skin.
