When it comes to mixing colours, patterns and prints like abstract florals, check and stripes, no one does it more gracefully than the Belgian designer Christian Wijnants. His collections are vibrant, romantic and modern at the same time, and his knitwear pieces are fabulous!
Although Christian Wijnants launched his eponymous brand in 2003, he opened his flagship store in Antwerp only in 2015. You should keep his name on your fashion radar because we’re sure we’re going to hear a lot more about him.
The Brussels-born designer studied fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp and won the Dries Van Noten best collection award with his graduate collection. By the way, he began his career working with Dries Van Noten, and we feel his creations have a something of Van Noten’s colour palette and taste for mixing prints.
We love Wijnants’ patchwork pieces that mix knitwear with layered graphics and abstract florals, and the asymmetric, oversized and fluid shapes in his design. Also, the designer has a flair for colour-blocking and hand-prints that make his collections so unique and the perfect choice for women who want to stand out from the crowd, like Anne Hathaway, who chose a Christian Wijnants outfit to promote "Ocean's 8 The Movie."
