Brazilian shoe designer Alexandre Birman has just opened his first boutique on Madison Avenue, New York, while he celebrates the 10th anniversary of his eponymous brand with 2 new designs: Lolita and New Clarita. Although his brand is quite new, we’ve gotten used to seeing movie stars and celebrities such as Meryl Streep and Blake Lively walking in his creations on the red carpet and in events all over the world for a while now.

Birman’s father and uncle founded the shoe brand Arezzo in the 70’s that became quickly a very known brand in Brazil.

When Alexandre Birman was 19, he decided to start his own shoe company, Schutz, with a little help from his father. Today Schutz is part of Arezzo and Co, which is the biggest shoe conglomerate in South America, headed by Alexandre as its chief executive. In 2018, Alexandre Birman launched his eponymous brand of elegant and luxurious handcrafted pumps, sandals with block heels or stilettos and flats made in leather and also, in opulent exotic skins such as snakeskin, crocodile, lizard and ostrich.

Birman says he designs shoes for highly sophisticated and modern women who value luxurious design, exclusivity and a premium quality and who want to wear chic and timeless shoes while being fashionable too.

In 2016, über-model Gisele Bündchen famously wore silver python sandals especially designed for her by Birman, for the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. This was, by the way, the last catwalk appearance of her successful modelling career.
