Mission - almost - impossible

Getting ready to go to the office or to go out for lunch during summer seems to be more difficult than in chillier seasons when you can layer beautiful jackets and coats over any outfit and easily look elegant. To look chic in summer is a task a bit more challenging to pull off, or in my case, a lot more difficult as I am part of that group of people -mainly men- who just love sitting next to the AC vent at the office.
Sometimes I look at my wardrobe and desperation hits because nothing seems fresh enough for summer. Luckily, for me and anyone who struggles with summer looks, inspiration and tips from fashion-savvy girls are at hand in this digital age, you only need to scroll down your Instagram feed. But of course, you should take what you see with a grain of salt; not every outfit that looks good on a photo actually works in real life where you need to look and feel good in an outfit during the entire day and not just the time of a photo shoot.
Here are nine influencers who manage to look chic in summer and whose looks I would definitely wear under the burning sun:
The Danish influencer, who is the former editor for the magazine Costume Denmark, looks chic wearing the number one summer staple; a crisp white T-shirt paired with another big summer trend, paper bag waist trousers, and barely-there sandals. She finishes her on-point look tying the straps of her sandals over the pants, creating a totally new volume.
Sylvie Mus is a freelance stylist and fashion writer from Rwanda living in Finland, she knows how to keep fresh and look chic wearing a linen sleeveless oversized jacket with nothing underneath, wide trousers and leather slides. She nails perfectly the 2019 "back to nature" trend with the natural materials, colours and minimalist accessories she chooses.
Debora Rosa is a muse of the wander trend, she's a traveller, and her wardrobe is full of hues of earthy colours. She paired beige tailored trousers with a Jacquemus crisp white shirt tied in the waist. The caramel leather slide sandals by Hermès are the icing on the cake.
This super stylish Canadian 50 plus influencer is not afraid of mixing patterns. An A skirt paired with sleeveless shirt and mules is a chic and fresh look for summer, and the mix&match of prints make the look up-to-date and fun.
How to pull off wearing a loose oversized white dress without looking like you’re going to bed? The Spanish designer Gala Gonzalez pairs her cotton dress with an elegant Dior bag, cool sneakers and looks chic indeed.
One of the biggest German influencers, Caro Daur, wears the perfect summer office look; jeans and a strapless top, paired with fantastic Bally transparent loafers! For hotter days, jeans should be relaxed and with straight legs; and the contrast with a very feminine top is chic and fresh.
A boyfriend blue and white striped shirt in cotton is classic and always look chic. Be adventurous and pair it with a printed skirt like the former fashion director at Tatler, and finish your look with flat raffia flip-flops and a trendy oversized headband. More Mediterranean, impossible!
Can you wear shorts and look chic? Just do like Josephine Aarkrogh, Elle Denmark'sfashion editor; wear matching shorts and blouse from the sustainable Danish fashion label Shall Studio, and dress up your look with a statement handbag, hers from Proenza Schouler.
A midi dress in the best French-girl style like the cute vintage polka-dot wrap dress the stylish PR is wearing is an excellent option and a beautiful look that can take you from the office to a night out. Note that polka-dots are competing with florals this season.
Finding the right outfit for summer seems much easier now, doesn't it?
