6 Fall trends emerged from Copenhagen Fashion Week F/W 21.

Fashion month began with Copenhagen Fashion Week, bringing us plenty of great looks and trends for fall 21. While Paris and Milan have Haute Couture and high-luxury fashion, Copenhagen Fashion Week is famous for setting wearable, every-day trends. And in these COVID-19 times, the fully digital fashion week brought us the best Scandinavian brands. Additionally, we saw some fashion labels that used to show in Berlin and London. In fact, CPHFW is becoming one of the main fashion weeks. As a result, the event is now sponsored by Zalando, the tech online retailer.

Besides presenting accessible trends, Copenhagen Fashion Week has a sustainable action plan and released its first annual sustainability report. Cecilie Thorsmark, CEO of CPHFW, explained that their “ ultimate ambition is introducing minimal sustainability requirements that brands must comply with by 2023 to participate in our fashion week.”

Here are the six main trends for fall 21 that emerged from Copenhagen Fashion Week. From Peter Pan collars to maxi dresses over trousers, the looks are fun and easy to recreate. Check the fashion-forward Scandinavian girls, they are already rocking these trends.

Vests, the must-have accessory

Vests have been around for some time now, and they are fantastic transitional pieces. As we saw in Copenhagen Fashion Week AW 21, this timeless trend makes your wardrobe staples look contemporary. Layer a retro knitted vest over summer dresses to wear them into fall.

Brown and earthy colours for autumn and winter

Fall will be dominated by brown and earthy colours, as several labels showed at Copenhagen Fashion Week. The colour palette goes from dark brown to beige; we’ve also seen lots of off-white and caramel shades.

Peter Pan collars are still going strong in Copenhagen

Copenhagen Fashion Week and the Scandinavian it-girls love Peter Pan wide collars, which are still a thing in AW 21. The statement collars are the perfect frame for Zoom calls, and they come now embellished with frills.

Maxi dresses for comfy looks

Since the pandemic lockdowns, comfort has become crucial. Consequently, the elevated maxi dresses from Copenhagen Fashion Week will be one of the main trends for AW 21. Dresses are stylish loungewear, a good option for tracksuits. For example, Nynne styles a black dress with a white shirt, achieving a chic and ageless look that takes you from the office to a night out. The Danish brand stepped away from traditional models and showed its collection with 9 native Copenhagen models, from mothers to tech investors. Nynne is a brand for women, designed to show feminine power in feminine clothes. Voilá!

Dresses over trousers

Another easy-to-wear and not-that-new AW 21 trend from Copenhagen Fashion Week is to wear dresses over trousers. Follow the Scandinavian trendsetters’ lead, and layer loose dresses over comfortable trousers for a modern look.

Plaid, the fall and winter hero

Year in, year out, as soon as temperatures fall, plaid reappears. At Copenhagen Fashion Week fall 21, one of the main trends is the classic and timeless tartan. The checkered clothes are back in beautiful colour combinations.
