Some trends are treats, others, tricks!

Before you hit the stores and try on all the fantastic new arrivals, check here six clever ways to wear the top trends for this fall. Of course, some are easier than others, and not all trends suit everyone, so it’s important to know yourself before jumping on the wagon if you don’t want to go around feeling kind of awkward!

Cowboy boots

This fall, wear cowboy boots with long skirts

The first thing that comes to our minds when we say cowboy boots is Jessie from Toy Story, wearing them with jeans, a checkered shirt and cowboy hat. Forget the obvious jeans; this fall you should pair cowboy boots with flowing dresses and skirts, or combine them with pantsuits or tailored trousers for an unexpected and sassy contrast.

Silk scarf print

Silk scarf print and patchwork dresses made with vintage silk scarves are ideal for fashion enthusiasts this season but do not wear this print from head-to-toe or you'll end up looking like a Versace ad from the 80's. Pair your scarf print skirt with an oversized pullover for a relaxed look and get extra fashion points! A silk scarf is always a nice touch, and to add some edge to the traditional foulard, instead of around your neck, try the new way to wear it, on your head, à la Audrey Hepburn.

Neon colours

Neon purple boots update any look

Neon colours bring some fun to the dull darker days, but better avoid a head-to-toe look in flashy colours. You can brighten up your look with neon accessories. We are not sure how long will this trend last so instead of making big investments, you can update outfits you already have with splashes of neon hues such as purple boots, or a bright yellow bag, maybe some lime green gloves or a big red beret. By the way, Valiant Poppy red is one of the Pantone colours for fall and a beautiful red coat goes well with almost everything.

Animal print

This fall you're free to not only wear your leopard pants but also to mix it with a zebra coat and some snake boots! But if you think this safari is a tad too much for you, stick to only one animal at a time, and you’ll be fine. Shoes and bags in animal print are also good choices for a Voguish look. Check how Giovanna Battaglia wears her leopard tights with a tartan skirt, and to balance her look, a black turtleneck and red bolero matching the colours of the skirt.

Black and red tartan pants look fantastic with black and white shirt

For the fashion-forward types, combine tartan with some more tartan! Wear a jacket and a skirt with different patterns of tartan, and top that with tartan tights. If you're going for something less "Brave-Heart-meets-punk-queen-Vivienne-Westwood", the mix of tartan with other patterns like stripes or polka dots is very contemporary. Wear a Breton striped T-shirt under a tartan top or pair your checkered garment with some accessories with animal print, just be careful to stick to the same hues or tones that go well together such as red and black, when mixing different patterns. If you’re more the discreet type, opt for tartan in earthy tones and wear one checkered item only, like tartan trousers, paired with a plain jacket or a cosy woollen pullover.

Pencil skirt

The pencil skirts are one of the most feminine and sexy skirts ever. A denim or corduroy buttoned pencil skirt with a simple black turtleneck looks beautiful and takes you from work to a date. Pair it with kitten heels or some knee-high boots, or dress down your chic skirt with chunky boots, kickers or a leather biker jacket. Printed skirts ask for a plain shirt or blouse and vice-versa. A monochrome outfit will elongate your silhouette
