5 transitioning outfits to go from winter to spring without spending a cent The perfect looks for those early spring days

20. Januar 2020

Usually, I’m all up for an enjoyable spring shopping tour, but this year I challenged myself: give my winter wardrobe a spring makeover and put together transitioning outfits without spending a single cent. Believe it or not, it is possible. On top of that, it is fun creating new looks with pieces you already own, not to mention that it is sustainable. Here are 5 transitioning outfits that I put together, and I will wear the next few months.

1. Pullover over a dress or skirt

You most certainly have a slick cashmere pullover, ideal for any season. And you probably also have a sheer dress or a pleated skirt from this winter. Combine them, pair with a loafer or sneaker, et voilà; you have a spring outfit that works perfectly for that alternating weather. This way you also get to wear your cosy pullovers a little longer, and your beloved summer dresses a little earlier – win-win.

2- Blazer + Shorts

In winter, you wore your blazer underneath coats. During springtime, you can comfortably wear them as your actual outwear. Especially oversised ones are your perfect spring companion since you can put a lot of layers underneath and adjust to the different temperatures throughout the day. Pair your oversised blazer with shorts like Xenia Adonts for extra fashion points. If you still don’t have any shorts in your wardrobe, try just cut an old straight pair of jeans exactly in the middle of your knee. Wear it with high heels and blazer. The short suit is a key look for Spring.

Wearing skirts is essential in spring, but in April it can get a bit tricky. Unexpected showers are a regular thing, and when you leave the house on a sunny morning in your ballerinas, you might come home with wet feet. Doesn´t sound that nice, right? By wearing ankle boots without socks and your favourite midi skirt from winter, you can enjoy an airy feeling around your calves and still have dry feet in the evening. Ankle boots in a light colour like these off-white boots from Mango and Rag&Bone are the right call. Write it down, white boots are one of the most important items for perfect transitioning outfits!

4. Leather

As already said, the weather in spring can get really crazy. So leather can be a perfect fabric for in-between weather because it is a thermal material, which works in winter and spring. Leather appeared in the spring/summer 2020 runway shows of several designers like Bottega Veneta, Marni and Alexander McQueen. I especially like combining leather shirts or jackets with cotton or silk trousers, creating a kind of contrast between textures. And I am sure, you will find some leather pieces in your wardrobe!

5. Stay neutral in blue

We’ve already told you in the article „The colour palette for Spring 2020 according to Pantone and our fav fashion designers“ that Classic Blue is the colour of 2020. Along with Classic Blue, several designers also chose the lighter hue, Heritage Blue, for this Spring-Summer collections. As a result, we think now is the perfect time to jump on the blue train. Just because it will soon spring doesn´t mean you have to go crazy with bright colours. Your neutral winter garments don´t just look great during the colder season, but also really nice with white jeans, sandals and other spring-like pieces. Wear your old denim with a blue blouse like they were fresh new. Have a look at Caro Daur in Milan, the more classic the better.
