When craftsmanship meets art, it’s when our eyes turn heart-shaped. Vienna is a great hub for all things that concern love for tradition and a knack for creative minds always on the move. Today it’s time in the spotlight for Lobmeyr, family-owned glassware company in business since 1823 and charmingly nestled in one of the busiest streets of central Vienna.
A history of working for royalty translates in 2017 with participation in the creative nucleus of the world’s contemporary design: Milano Design Week 2017. And the company is taking place in not one but in two related projects. First off, Wallpaper* magazine has invited Lobmeyr to work on a cooperation with German designer Sebastian Herkner on their Wallpaper*Handmade format with topic “Ritual”, a ‘ritual celebration of divine inspiration’ in craftsmanship and surroundings, as they put it in their own announcement.
Lobmeyr is also being celebrated at SaloneSatellite, Salone del Mobile’s talent show, together with the brands that made the Salone what it is in the past twenty years.
There is a lot to be excited about for this Viennese institution. In the meantime, you can check out their classics in the gallery down here.
