Our passion for embroideries is pretty well known around here, although we have to admit they mainly catch our attention when stitched on beautiful pieces of clothing. In 2017, however, we have to admit that there are so many ways to make art that we are not surprised to find out that embroideries can also make up the most interesting part of an illustration. How?
Well, take a look at Juana Gomez‘ work, for example. Not only her works are incredibly enthralling, but also sort of creepy. In a good way. And also sort of scientific. Again, in a good way. Gomez is specialized in embroidery over photography, which is definitely not something you see every day. What emerges is the beauty, complexity, and messiness of our own bodies through an artistic lens.
