Yes, it’s this time of the year again. After months of waiting H&M’s latest designer collab collection with French fashion house Kenzo launched this very morning. When the name of this year’s collaboration partner was revealed back in early spring, we all knew this would be another sell-out collection for H&M. And it was pretty safe to say that this collaboration would come with a fair amount of buzz and more than a few of those epic line-ups.
The two creative directors of Kenzo, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, have built up a cult around their creations since joining the Parisian brand in 2011. The capsule collection for H&M, which includes a whole lot of colour, vivid animal prints and exaggerated silhouettes, now perfectly shows the duo’s unique approach to fashion.
The 110-piece range includes quilted bomber jackets, palazzo pants, fake furs, cropped, off-shoulder peasant blouses and maxi skirts. Not to forget different versions of the Kenzo cult piece the famous tiger jumper. As always the Parisian brand stands out in its use of vivid prints in loud, audacious colours. However – and this might be the huge difference to some of the collaborations from earlier years such as Versace and Alexander Wang – there are also pieces in the collection that are actually wearable and mix well into our existing wardrobe.
The launch party
Kenzo has not only been famous for it’s great designs but also for holding extraordinary parties at its Paris shows, especially during its heyday in the 1970s and 1980s. In order to continue this spirit we attended the launch party here in Vienna last night to have some drinks, get a glimpse of the collection and do a tiny bit of shopping.
From today on the KENZO x H&M collection is available in more than 250 H&M stores worldwide as well as online at hm.com. But as we all know, in order to get your hands on the designer link-ups, you better come very early and prepared to fight off the crowd.
So good luck guys!
