Fashion photographer Bill Cunningham has died at 87 in Manhattan this past Saturday. Shortly before, he had been hospitalized after suffering a stroke.
He leaves behind a legacy of almost 40 years working for The Times. 1978 was the date he started his column On The Street, where he would share the very mother of street style photography. From then on, Bill Cunningham gradually became the legendary fashion photographer everybody knew and everybody loved to love. His shots were never confined to the streets right outside fashion events. Instead, he liked to capture untouched personal style where it really is, on the real streets.
Goodbye Bill, you will be missed.
