Daphne Guinness has long been recognized as one of this generation’s creative forces for her contribution to the worlds of fashion, art, and style.
In fashion she played different roles, from muse to artist, not forgetting collector, patroness, couture client, socialite, and performer.
Daphne Guinness necessity to express herself is bigger than her usual heelless skyscraper shoes.
Now, in her 48s, she is adding another experience in her CV: rock star.
More seen than heard, Daphne Guinness has a lot to say. ‘Optimist in Black’ is her first album, which she wrote with the Irish musician Pat Donne, using her own lyrics.
The album has all the 60’s influences, psychedelic flavor, and a heavy atmosphere ode to those who have gone, it means Alexander McQueen, Isabella Blow, and Daphne’s half-brother.
“All my friends have died”, she says. “They made for the exit,” Guinness chants, “the shining light of the exit.”
The music video was directed by Nicky Knight.
