Pardon me? Yes, you’ve read correctly. Pigtails are actually conquering the fashion world. Not even the two words “fashion world” and “pigtails” go together in my ears, let alone in reality. But here we are, FW15, and the two have seriously decided to become BFFs – at least for now.
Shows like Miu Miu, Chanel, Marni and Mara Hoffman sent pigtailed models down their runways. Two floppy tails danced around the models’ heads when they pranced down the runway – exciting accessories made the Pippi Langstrumpf look all grown up.
And thinking of it from this point of view makes me reconsider my judgement. Maybe pigtails aren’t that bad after all? Are we prejudging them because we still consider them leftovers from another time? A time when we already wanted to be grown up but still had our hair done by Mum? And now that we’re grown up, how often are we longing for those good old days? When there was nothing else to worry about but dessert, when our biggest dream was buying out the sweets store like Pippi Langstrumpf did.
I reckon that pigtails are actually a good way to regain your mini-you and with it your easiness – wear one of these very chic models to work tomorrow and observe the reactions. It will at least be a good laugh, if not the initiation to the pigtail area (FW15-SS16).
