Who doesn’t know the feeling of having nothing to wear but a closet full of clothes? And we all have our favourite pieces; that one favourite pair of jeans that just fits us perfectly or that one shirt that goes with pretty much anything. Sometimes they are even hiding from us in the chaos that we call a closet, because let’s be honest, not all of us have the luxury of a walk-in closet with its own organizational system!
If you are one of these people and have an overflowing closet, you should maybe try out a little trick that Brittany Witkin, a stylist and closet-organization guru, has shared with the world. She wrote an article about how she removed over 100 items from her wardrobe by asking herself a few seemingly simple questions: Does it serve me? Do I feel good while wearing it? Am I excited to wear it? Do I actually wear it and do I remember the last time I wore it?
If you are having a so-so reaction to this questions or can’t remember the last time you wore a piece, it’s time to dump the item (or maybe even donate it!) However, if you’re having a hard time throwing things away, maybe put the items in a box and store them somewhere outside of your closet (if you have the space), because you never know – those pieces might celebrate their comeback and you know what they say: Absence will make your heart grow even fonder!
