Tilda Swinton is cool, we all know that. Breaking Hollywood’s norms, her alien-like beauty won her many dream roles and fans — also, her style icon is David Bowie; enough said already. However, Swinton apparently likes to break the rules even when it comes to things more relatable to us commoners, and this is why she co-founded a school: the Drumduan Upper School in Scotland.
The cool and Tilda Swinton-y thing of this school, however, is the way teaching is handled. “It’s incredibly art-based, practical learning. For example, they learn their science by building a Canadian canoe, or making a knife, or caramelising onions,” she told the Guardian. A school of life rater than a school of thought, it seems. And what else could we expect from edgy Tilda Swinton?
