New York Art Director and writer for Harper’s Bazaar, Matilda Kahl (@lilltrill), one day decided to put an end to the eternal question we all know just too well, “What the hell am I going to wear today?” So she opted for a pair of black pants, white shirt and black blazer and created her very own work uniform. And that has been it, for the past three years.
All about being practical
Only recently she decided to make a change (but brace yourselves, it’s only a slight variation!). At Zara she cut herself a deal with the store manager (who thought you could bargain with Zara) and brought home 15 white silk shirts for the next 254 working days, creating her next ultra-practical work uniform. Matilda’s co-workers at Saatchi & Saatchi even had a “Dress Like Matilda Day” at their SoHo office, honouring her trademark style. Judge all you want, but she might be onto something.
