Models nowadays are more restless than ever. We just recently covered Tali Lennox’ story, a model turned into a talented painter, and right these days we are welcoming the latest movie featuring Cara Delevingne. Today, we take a look at the story of a model who switched sides in her own industry: Anna K.
Anna Karenina, who picked up the surname from Tolstoy’s heroine, started off as a model just before getting inspired by some earnest talks with some designers. First featured in Kiev Fashion Days in 2012, Anna K quirky looks quickly won over many hearts in the industry, getting the attention from big retailers. After not even 3 years, Anna K is sold in over 40 online shops, included her own, and plans to open standalone stores very soon.
What made us (and not only us) fall in love with her is her approach to fashion. Detached from the widespread trends, Anna goes for an ironic take on the icons, booming colors and a great deal of inspiration from melancholic fairy tales. On this line, her latest FW15 collection has been inspired by the Danish folklore tale The Little Match Girl. Well, that’s a sad one, but we get the point.
