During high school times, the goth kids were considered by many a marginal group who liked to wear black and listen to dark music. Nowadays, the very same goth kids took their revenge parading on the runways all over the world. The latest AW15 shows are proof that those pieces which used to dress the outcasts are now being upgraded to high fashion, and their features even enhanced. Leather, drama and black makeup have been the keywords to access this renewed world of the all-grown-up gothic kids. Alexander Wang‘s models, with their studs and exaggerated platforms, celebrate a space in-between neo-punk and bad school girls. The hair falling flat down the girls’ faces enhance the memory of the original gothic club, making the show one for once teenagers, always teenagers. gA gB Who shows a grown up version of Wednesday from the Addams Family is Thom Browne, with whose collection was love at first sight. His interpretation of gothic fashion lies in the rendering of the traditional Burtonian outfits. The nets, so charming and popular on the latest runways, slightly make the look appear like one fit for a funeral. Hopefully, the one of boring fashion. gC gD From cinematic to historical, Giles brought the long gone Victorian times back on stage. The collections might be slightly less dark in the soul, but the use of bouffants and big bows, enriched by the deep shades of brave black lipsticks, helped to make it one hell of a show. gE gF photo courtesy: Style.com
