As we were all expecting, American Apparel finalised the firing of its CEO Dov Charney. The reason resides in the controversies which surrounded the former CEO of the iconic fashion retailer, uglily concerning sexual harassment accusation and a general inappropriate conduct. Also, we are all very familiar with the soft-core ads for which American Apparel received much criticism due to the obvious objectification of the girls sporting the brand’s pieces.

Already suspended from his role in June and then temporarily re-hired as a strategic consultant, Dov Charney’s termination has been now confirmed. American Apparel fired founder has been promptly replaced. Even better news: as if to answer to the critics which condemned the whole company for Charney’s behaviour, the new CEO is a woman, Paula Schneider.

“This company needs a permanent CEO who can bring stability and strong leadership in this time of transition, and we believe Ms. Schneider fits the bill perfectly.” announced the co-chairman David Danziger. We are looking forward to seeing a real twist in American Apparel’s branding.
