When art and senses come together, what is born from this union can only be a very special experience. Artists all over the world like to play and blur the lines between artwork and experience, giving visitors a chill down their spines.
It is surely what happens in Akhob, a very peculiar installation by artist James Turrell; a game of light and perception in the 4th floor of the Louis Vuitton store in Las Vegas.
Like other Turrell’s creations, Akhob is characterized by the use of shapes and colors organized and stored in rooms aimed to confuse the human eye and trick the mind of the viewer, whose baffled brain reacts to the impulses making things up – things that are not really there. In this little, magical corner of Las Vegas, lights suddenly change in front of your eyes, and blotches of lights and new colors appear.
Who said that Vegas is all about casinos? If you happen to be around, give it a try.
