Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei revealed seven new pieces on September 27th in the infamous abandoned prison, Alcatraz in San Francisco. Ai delves into themes of confinement, freedom, and human rights with this exhibition entitled @Large. His experience with imprisonment gives this installation its air of authenticity. He was able to bring out the beauty and grittiness of the area, while all the pieces were completed in his studio and installed by his assistants. The exhibition will be up for view until April 26, 2015 and will give visitors the opportunity to see previously restricted areas of the prison.
