We’re all part of the great jeans generation, a timeless trend that we love so much! Stone washed, sand washed, acid washed, dark wash, sand blasted, boot cut, baggy, skinny, bell bottom, boyfriend, straight leg, relaxed fit, frayed, ripped, torn, patched, painted, cut off, cargo pocket, pajama, stretch, high waisted, low rise, there is almost no end to this list!
Do you know that word “jeans” comes from the French phrase “bleu de Gênes”, what literally means the blue of Genoa? And denim, jeans fabric, originated in the French town of Nimes (de Nimes), it’s how it got the name in the first place. Some of the earliest American blue jeans were made by Calvin Rogers and Levi Strauss in 1873 and they were originally designed for cowboys. The most popular brands those days were iconic Levi’s, Lee and Wrangler.
So, why do we love jeans so much?
It’s pretty simple. Jeans are just so adaptable to fit almost every outfit. It is crazy to think that jeans have been around for so long and never faded away. The evolution and usefulness of jeans is what has kept it alive for such a long time. Although styles and methods of production of jeans have changed over the years it is their adaptability, which has also played a great role in never taking them out of fashion. Match them with a simple t-shirt for a lazy day, a smart top for a night out, a jumper, shirt, jacket … There are very few items that won’t go with jeans so the chances for the mistake are pretty low.
